I rarely write posts nowadays, but this one, in my opinion, is very important!
For years, I subscribed to various newsletters from brands and well-known companies to stay updated on trends and the latest innovations. This time, I’ve gathered an entire collection: Pinterest, Canva, Pantone, TrendWatching, Spoonflower, and others, to compile all the design and art trends in one article for you.
My Top Personal Trends for 2025
I’ll show you all the design trends I’ve found online, but these two, in my opinion, are the most significant and will remain relevant not just in 2025 but for several years ahead:
AI (Artificial Intelligence)
Hand-drawn artworks (any technique)
Why? AI: This trend is unavoidable. It’s rapidly evolving, and the colors and compositions generated by AI are truly eye-catching! AI-created work is incredibly challenging to replicate manually, and the time required to produce it "by hand" is not always justified, as AI can complete certain tasks much faster.
Hand-drawn artworks: These represent the real, the genuine, often imperfect but still alive and authentic. The more AI gains momentum, the more demand there will be for works created without AI. There will be a trend for video recordings of the drawing process, showing that it’s done by a person and highlighting the personality behind the artwork.
While artificial intelligence analyzes existing works, fresh ideas and new approaches can only be generated by humans. On the other hand, I believe the popularity of AI-generated works will also continue to grow.
By combining these two trends, I can confidently say that this duality—a kind of two-sided approach—is the main tendency I see in everything around me, including design.
Of course, logical thinking should not be ignored. For each task, whether it’s an advertising banner, an oil painting, or design versus art, the tools and methods should be chosen according to the specific goal. So, I recommend focusing less on the question of AI versus non-AI and more on the ultimate purpose of your work.
A Bit More About Artificial Intelligence
Did you know that AI can already generate vector images? Here’s an example:
And here’s the shocking news: under certain conditions, it can even be used for commercial purposes! The quality of these vectors is already at an impressive level.
If you’re interested in this topic, let me know, and I’ll write a separate post detailing an incredible service called Kittl AI and show how to generate vectors (or raster graphics) for commercial use. In the meantime, here’s my referral link to register on Kittl: kittl.pxf.io/DyW0Bb and use the code ILONA25 for a 25% discount on the annual Kittl Pro plan. The code is valid for only one month. On the Kittl Pro plan, you’ll have commercial rights for Kittl AI. Licensing information can be found here and here.
